Pito Jigged for Welding

To jig the pito for welding a laid it on top of 2 bricks with plate sandwiched between them. THis held the plate perpendicular. A sharpy line on the plate could be aligned to the surface of the bricks for straightness.
Denise had sacraficed a one cup measuring cup for the base. I thought this would be perfect, but it wound up not being stainless, but some kind of chrome plated metal, that wouldn't weld. I made a mess and started over.
The second time I used a thin piece of plate steel and regular welding rod. Now the part will need to be painted.
